Mission Statement
Door County Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian organization striving to provide to all who participate with us opportunities to further grow into all God intends. We act in partnership with our community to extend a "hand up" to help others acquire and own decent and affordable housing.

About Door County Habitat
People interested in addressing the affordable housing crisis began to meet in Door County in 1992. The following year, 1993, Door County Habitat for Humanity was officially registered with the Wisconsin Secretary of State as a non-profit organization. Our first Door County home was completed in 1994. Since that time, a total of 29 new homes have been built in Door County. During the first ten years of its existence, Habitat built an average of 1.5 homes annually. In recent years, home production has reached 2.5 dwellings annually.
Perspective

Door County Habitat for Humanity gives a "Hand Up," not a Hand Out to our Partner Families.
Habitat homes are not a give away program. These homes are sold to Partner Families who must make a down payment plus perform predetermined number of "sweat equity" hours. Additionally, families make mortgage payments and pay taxes as any homeowner would.
